Simon is a member of the firm’s Litigation team and acts for clients on a range of commercial issues including contractual disputes, building and construction law issues, and debt recovery.
Simon previously led the firm’s alcohol licensing law team where he established himself as an expert in the field. He provided skilled advice to clients throughout the North Island on alcohol licensing matters, often representing licensees and objectors at hearings before District Licensing Committees and the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority. Simon also has particular experience in assisting alcohol licensing clients subject to prosecutions by the Police before the Authority. This involves advising clients once an enforcement application has been received, negotiating with the prosecutors, and appearing in court to defend charges or for sentencing.
Simon holds a law degree from Victoria University of Wellington and joined Harkness Henry in 2013 having previously worked in the fine wine industry. He has also maintained a keen interest in music, having played in various bands in Wellington and Auckland as a guitarist.
