A new chapter for Harkness Henry begins

On 1 July 2026 Harkness Henry and Auckland firm Malloy Goodwin Harford (MGH) joined forces through a strategic merger, creating a stronger, more connected legal practice across the North Island.
For 150 years, Harkness Henry has provided legal services to clients across the Waikato, with offices in Hamilton, Cambridge, Paeroa, and Matamata – a legacy we’re incredibly proud of. This merger is a natural extension of that history, bringing our team and approach into Auckland, while strengthening the breadth of expertise available to our clients and community.
Joining us as partners in Auckland are Patrick Casey and Marise Allan, with David Ruck and David Moorman continuing as consultants. We also welcome Sarah McLaren and Sarah Paterson as Senior Associates and an experienced business support team who will all work out of our Auckland office based in Newmarket.
What this means for Harkness Henry
The merger brings together two firms that are strongly aligned in our values of delivering legal excellence and we share a deeply held conviction that good people are what make a law firm thrive.
Our offices in the Waikato will continue operating as normal, but with our Auckland colleagues, we are now better placed to offer a greater breadth of legal expertise. Our Auckland team brings extensive experience in the fields of commercial, property and IP, complementary expertise you can draw on should you ever need it.
We’re proud of the firm we’ve built over 150 years, and just as proud to be growing it in a way that stays true to who we are.
