Matthew leads Harkness Henry’s private client team, which provides legal advice and assistance to individuals, families, small businesses and not-for-profit organisations. He is an experienced lawyer with particular expertise in the law of trusts, relationship property and not-for-profit organisations.
Acting for a diverse range of private individuals and not-for-profit clients, Matthew provides practical advice about trusts and societies, property development and financing. He also uses his expertise and experience in trust and property law to provide practical, focused advice to private clients about estate planning and relationship property law. This includes advising on the formation and management of family trusts, and the negotiation and settlement of relationship property claims.
Over recent years, due to his expertise in trust and relationship property law, Matthew has been contracted by the Lawlink Group to draft, review and update many of the Lawlink precedent documents used by Lawlink firms nationwide.
Matthew has a masters degree in law with first class honours, and is committed to using his skills and experience to provide prompt, practical advice to all of his clients.
Outside the office, Matthew enjoys spending time with his family and exploring New Zealand by bicycle. In early 2016, he completed the inaugural Tour Aotearoa, a 3,000km cycle challenge from Cape Reinga to Bluff, raising funds for the Graeme Dingle Foundation.
